PIC12F675_Flashing_Blinking_LED.jpg Simple little circuit for testing PIC12F675 microcontroller. When you start learning a programming language like C++, Visual Basic or any other language your first step is to write a program that displays "Hello World" on a computer's monitor. When you start learning how to program PIC microcontrollers an equivalent to that is blinking a LED. A PIC circuit like this for blinking a LED is extremely simple and useful for making sure that (1) PIC microcontroller is functioning correctly (2) testing PIC programmer to see if you can successfully send hex program from a computer to PIC12F675 chip (3) and finally testing your computer's connection whether it is a USB, serial or parallel port. As you can see the PIC12F675 circuit is very simple and only requires PIC12F675 microcontroller, LED and 1K resistor. We haven’t even used external 4MHz crystal and used built-in oscillator to make the schematic as simple as possible. 12F675 microcontroller can be supplied from 2 to 5 Volts. It consumes very little current so you can go ahead and power it from two AA batteries. LED flashing is continued endlessly with 4Hz frequency and 50% duty cycle.
