Description: In this video I will show you how to use Netcat for advanced exploitation techniques. In this video I will show you how to get windows shell using netcat and grabbing banner, port scanning etc .. Most of the tools in any hacker or pentester’s arsenal are task-specific; they specialize in one function only but Netcat, also known as the ‘TCP/IP Swiss Army Knife,’ does not fall into this category. Netcat is a tool capable of writing data across a network using TCP or UDP protocol but this simple capability allows it to perform many functionalities. Its capability to create almost any kind of connection makes it a simple and efficient network debugging and exploration tool. It has been built in such a manner that it can act as a client as well as a server, which elevates its utility to a higher level. Skype Community suffers from a mail encoding vulnerability that allows for cross site scripting. Title: ====== Skype Community - Mail Encoding Web Vulnerability Date: ===== 2013-02-21 References: =========== http://www.vulnerability-lab.com/get_content.php?id=800 MSRC ID: 13493 VL-ID: ===== 800 Common Vulnerability Scoring System: ==================================== 3.5 Introduction: ============= Skype is a proprietary voice-over-Internet Protocol service and software application originally created in 2003 by Swedish entrepreneur Niklas Zennström and his Danish partner Janus Friis. It has been owned by Microsoft since 2011. The service allows users to communicate with peers by voice, video, and instant messaging over the Internet. Phone calls may be placed to recipients on the traditional telephone networks. Calls to other users within the Skype service are free of charge, while calls to landline telephones and mobile phones are charged via a debit-based user account system. Skype has also become popular for its additional features, including file transfer, and videoconferencing. Competitors include SIP and H.323-based services, such as Linphone, as well as the Google Talk service, Mumble and Hall.com. Skype has 663 million registered users as of September 2011. The network is operated by Microsoft, which has its Skype division headquarters in Luxembourg. Most of the development team and 44% of the overall employees of the division are situated in Tallinn and Tartu, Estonia. Unlike most other VoIP services, Skype is a hybrid peer-to-peer and client–server system. It makes use of background processing on computers running Skype software. Skype`s original proposed name (Sky Peer-to-Peer) reflects this fact. Some network administrators have banned Skype on corporate, government, home, and education networks, citing reasons such as inappropriate usage of resources, excessive bandwidth usage, and security concerns. (Copy of the Vendor Homepage: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skype) Abstract: ========= The Vulnerability Laboratory Research Team discovered a mail filter encoding web vulnerability in the official Skype Website Application. Report-Timeline: ================ 2012-12-27: Researcher Notification & Coordination 2012-12-28: Vendor Notification 2013-01-05: Vendor Response/Feedback 2013-02-13: Vendor Fix/Patch 2013-02-21: Public Disclosure Status: ======== Published Affected Products: ================== Microsoft Corp. Product: Skype Community - Lithium Forums 2012 Q4 Exploitation-Technique: ======================= Remote Severity: ========= Medium Details: ======== A persistent mail encoding web vulnerability is detected in the official Skype Community Portal Website Application. The vulnerability allows remote attackers to send own malicious script code as invite mail message (persistent) to hijack or phish skype application user accounts. The vulnerability in the skype community (forum) is located in the `invite a friend to use skype` function with the bound vulnerable username parameter. The malicious code will be executed when the attacker injects script code as friend`s name in the invite a friend to use skype function. After the include the attacker needs to include the receiver of the mail and can directly send it via the skype community formular. The skype system generates a link with the session details when processing to display the download link in a mail. The script code of the formular will be included to the mail and can only be executed out of the generated link with the bound session and input details of the sender. Affected is the generated main skype download link in the mail but also the download link of the mobile version for android. Vulnerable Section(s): [+] Skype Community - Forums [community.skype.com] Vulnerable Module(s): [+] Forums [Notification] - Invite a friend to use skype Vulnerable Input(s): [+] Friends Name Vulnerable Parameter(s): [+] h [+] &b Affected Section(s): [+] Mail - Skype Main Download Link [+] Mail - Skype Mobile Android Download Link Proof of Concept: ================= The persistent vulnerability can be exploited by remote attackers without privileged community application user account with low or medium required user interaction. For demonstration or reproduce ... Note: The problem occurs in the validation of the mail encoding when processing to calculate (generate) the software download link with the bound session details/information of the sender. Review: Mail - Skype Main Download Link
&b=%2520%2520%2520%2520%26quot%3b%26gt%3b&c=cm%5fmmc=EMTR|0312%5fB6-%5f-z213-%5f- 0200271212DEde%26ed_rid=_edid__%26ed_mid=48525151" style="text-decoration: none; font-family: Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 16px; color:#FFFFFF; font-weight: bold;" title="Get the new Skype for Android" target="_blank"> Skype herunterladen
PoC: http://my.email.skype.com/r/RNUYOQ9/N2NMYT/0GGM4W2M/3TRE7KH/B6VEVG/DX/h ?a=%20%20%20%20%22%3E[SPLIT]&b=%2520%2520%26quot%3b%26gt%3b[PERSISTENT OR NON-PERSISTENT SCRIPT CODE!]& c=cm%5fmmc=EMTR|0312%5fB6-%5f-z213-%5f-0200271212DEde%26ed_rid=_edid__%26ed_mid=48525151 Sender: info@email.skype.com Answer: info.6VVDIE4D.48525151@email.skype.com Reference(s): http://www.skype.com/intl/en/tell-a-friend/ Solution: ========= The vulnerability can be patched by parsing the software download link when processing to generate (download link) with the bound user session. Restrict the input fields via filter or stable mask in the tell a friend to use skype function to prevent against future script code executions out of the skype mail notification template. Risk: ===== The security risk of the filter mail encoding or validation vulnerability is estimated as medium(+). Alt-N MDaemon version 13.0.3 WorldClient and WebAdmin applications suffer from a cross site request forgery vulnerability. ===================================================================================== Alt-N MDaemon's WorldClient & WebAdmin Cross-Site Request Forgery Vulnerability ===================================================================================== Software: Alt-N MDaemon v13.0.3 and prior versions Vendor: http://www.altn.com/ Vuln Type: Cross-Site Request Forgery Remote: Yes Local: No Discovered by: QSecure and Demetris Papapetrou References: http://www.qsecure.com.cy/advisories/Alt-N_MDaemon_WorldClient_and_WebAdmin_CSRF.html Discovered: 25/07/2012 Reported: 19/12/2012 Fixed: 15/01/2013 (http://files.altn.com/MDaemon/Release/RelNotes_en.html) Disclosed: 18/02/2013 VULNERABILITY DESCRIPTION: ========================== Alt-N WorldClient and WebAdmin applications are prone to a cross-site request-forgery vulnerability. It should be noted that partial protection is provided by the Session parameter, but this alone cannot be considered as an adequate protection mechanism. An attacker can exploit this issue to perform different actions on the affected application without the user's consent. For example, the attacker can change the user's password, forward a copy of the user's emails to a different email account, retrieve his/her address book, send email messages to other users/email addresses and/or perform other similar tasks. Alt-N MDaemon v13.0.3 & v12.5.6 were tested and found vulnerable; other versions may also be affected. The Alt-N MDaemon version 13.0.3 WorldClient application suffers from a predictable session identifier vulnerability. ====================================================================== Alt-N MDaemon's WorldClient Predictable Session ID Vulnerability ====================================================================== Software: Alt-N MDaemon v13.0.3 and prior versions Vendor: http://www.altn.com/ Vuln Type: Session ID Prediction Remote: Yes Local: No Discovered by: QSecure and Demetris Papapetrou References: http://www.qsecure.com.cy/advisories/Alt-N_MDaemon_WorldClient_Predictable_Session_ID.html Discovered: 25/07/2012 Reported: 19/12/2012 Fixed: 15/01/2013 (http://files.altn.com/MDaemon/Release/RelNotes_en.html) Disclosed: 18/02/2013 VULNERABILITY DESCRIPTION: ========================== Alt-N WorldClient is the web interface of the MDaemon email server. It has been identified that application session state is not maintained by the user's session cookie but by the URL "Session" parameter instead. This parameter is transmitted with every user request sent to the WorldClient web application and under certain circumstances future session IDs can be successfully predicted. The use of predictable session IDs for authentication makes WorldClient prone to session hijacking attacks. If the attacker can generate a current valid session ID then he/she may be able to access webmail accounts without possessing a valid username/password. The impact of the attack is significantly reduced because WorldClient associates the client's IP address with each session ID produced. However, certain network setups or other scenarios may exist that could render the IP restriction ineffective. Alt-N MDaemon v13.0.3 & v12.5.6 were tested and found vulnerable; other versions may also be affected. Pre-Requisites: --------------- 1) The attacker needs to get a current or expired session ID. a) Google Search: "WorldClient.dll?Session=" Steal an HTTP request and observe the Referer field 2) The MDaemon service or the machine has not been restarted since the captured session ID was generated (There may be a way to deal with this but further research is needed). The DTSTART and DTEND parameters in the returned FBData.vfb file, may indicate whether an email address/username is valid or not. Attackers may exploit this weakness to discern valid usernames. This may aid them in brute-force password cracking or other attacks. Alt-N MDaemon v13.0.3 & v12.5.6 were tested and found vulnerable; other versions may also be affected. PoC Exploit: ============ http://www.example.com:3000/WorldClient.dll?View=fbinfo&User=mickey.mouse@qsecure.com.cy For valid email accounts the DTSTART and DTEND values in the .vfb file start with a recent date backwards (e.g. 20120505) whereas for invalid ones the date is 19801231. The Alt-N MDaemon version 13.0.3 WebAdmin application suffers from a remote code execution vulnerability via the user account import facility. ================================================================== Alt-N MDaemon's WebAdmin Remote Code Execution Vulnerability ================================================================== Software: Alt-N MDaemon v13.0.3 and prior versions Vendor: http://www.altn.com/ Vuln Type: Remote Code Execution Remote: Yes Local: No Discovered by: QSecure and Demetris Papapetrou References: http://www.qsecure.com.cy/advisories/Alt-N_MDaemon_WebAdmin_Remote_Code_Execution.html Discovered: 01/10/2012 Reported: 19/12/2012 Fixed: 15/01/2013 (http://files.altn.com/MDaemon/Release/RelNotes_en.html) Disclosed: 18/02/2013 VULNERABILITY DESCRIPTION: ========================== Alt-N WebAdmin application is prone to a remote code execution vulnerability via the user account import facility. Attackers may utilize a compromised user/non-admin account to create new accounts in the system or modify existing ones, in a way that will turn-on the autorespond "program processing" functionality and cause it to execute arbitrary commands on the underlying operating system. Furthermore, utilizing the user account import facility, an ordinary user can change the password of any other user or administrator account within MDaemon and access his/her emails. However, a side-effect of this procedure is that any administrator accounts that get modified this way, are downgraded to ordinary users. Alt-N MDaemon v13.0.3 & v12.5.6 were tested and found vulnerable; other versions may also be affected. Source: PacketStorm
