  2. Asa cum spune si titlul caut specialist cu "solutii" de infectare si control asupra PC-urilor. ex: "vierme" care odata intrat in PC (victima) schimba functia de shut down cu functia sleep, apoi poate controla PC (victima) remotely prin "Turn ON" PM pentru mai multe detalii.
  3. The Cyber Security Challenge final has launched, tasking 42 amateur white hats to regain control of a naval gun system on board HMS Belfast as a part of a simulated cyber attack by the 'Flag Day Associates' hacktivist group. The final challenge is the brainchild of experts from GCHQ, the National Crime Agency, Lockheed Martin, Airbus Group, PGI, C3IA and Palo Alto Networks (in partnership with BT). The finalists will attempt to regain control of a gun system which has been hacked remotely and forced to target London's City Hall. Contestants will also be required to find similar security holes in a simulated water treatment and manufacturing facility using industry-standard tools, such as the Kali Linux distribution. The winner will be crowned on Friday. The simulation is the final round in the fifth Cyber Security Challenge, which has seen "thousands" of entrants combat the Flag Day Associates in a variety of fictional situations. The challenge is designed to help businesses and government departments spot talented individuals and recruit them into cyber security. Stephanie Daman, CEO of the Cyber Security Challenge, said that many of 2014's finalists now have cyber security jobs. "Around half of last year's finalists are already in their first cyber security jobs, whilst the majority of the rest are well on their way, taking training courses, accreditations or internships to boost their CVs. There is no reason why all 42 of our finalists today can't follow in their footsteps." Past winners include 19-year-old student William Shackleton and chemist Stephen Miller. Cabinet Office minister Francis Maude listed the high turnout and success of participants finding cyber security jobs as proof of the challenge's success. "Today's competition highlights the very best new cyber security talent as they are challenged by a set of exciting and innovative scenarios developed by GCHQ alongside industry experts," he said. "Government and business need skilled and talented people to feed the demand for better cyber security in the UK. "This competition is the biggest and best yet, and events like this play an important role in providing the next generation of cyber professionals." The challenge final follows a wider push by the UK government to better defend critical infrastructure systems against cyber attacks. The UK and US governments announced plans to mount a series of simulated cyber war games in January with the intention of bolstering critical infrastructure systems. The initiatives follow warnings that the cyber threat facing critical infrastructure is growing. The US Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team revealed on Thursday that US industrial control systems were hit by cyber attacks at least 245 times over a 12-month period. Source
  4. US industrial control systems were hit by cyber attacks at least 245 times over a 12-month period, the US Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team (ICS-CERT) has revealed. The figure was included in a report by the ICS-CERT, which operates within the National Cybersecurity and Integration Center, itself a part of the Department of Homeland Security. The report is classed as covering the 2014 fiscal year which, under US government dates, was between 1 October 2013 and 30 September 2014. “ICS-CERT received and responded to 245 incidents reported by asset owners and industry partners,” the report said. The energy sector accounted for the most incidents at 79, but perhaps the more alarming figure is that 65 incidents concerned cyber infiltration of the manufacturers of ICS hardware. “The ICS vendor community may be a target for sophisticated threat actors for a variety of reasons, including economic espionage and reconnaissance,” the report said. The data below shows the various industries that ICS-CERT was called on to help. The group said that 55 percent of investigated incidents showed signs that advanced persistent threats had been used to breach systems. “Other actor types included hacktivists, insider threats and criminals. In many cases, the threat actors were unknown due to a lack of attributional data,” it added. The graph below shows the various forms of attack methods uncovered by the ICS-CERT, although worryingly the vast majority of attacks were untraceable. The ICS-CERT did reveal, however, that some of its work related to hacks that used the Havex and Black Energy malware revealed during 2014. “ICS-CERT has provided onsite and remote assistance to various critical infrastructure companies to perform forensic analysis of their control systems and conduct a deep dive analysis into Havex and Black Energy malware,” it said. The ICS-CERT also acknowledged that it is highly likely that it was unaware of other incidents that will have occurred during the period. “The 245 incidents are only what was reported to ICS-CERT, either by the asset owner or through relationships with trusted third-party agencies and researchers. Many more incidents occur in critical infrastructure that go unreported,” the report said. The report comes amid rising concerns that industrial control systems are being targeted by Russian hackers, who are seen as new and highly sophisticated players in the cyber arena. Source
  5. ? Electronic Arts Origin Client 9.5.5 Multiple Privilege Escalation Vulnerabilities Vendor: Electronic Arts Inc. Product web page: https://www.origin.com Affected version: 9.5.5.2850 (353317) 9.5.3.636 (350385) 9.5.2.2829 (348065) Summary: Origin (formerly EA Download Manager (EADM)) is digital distribution software from Electronic Arts that allows users to purchase games on the internet for PC and mobile platforms, and download them with the Origin client (formerly EA Download Manager, EA Downloader and EA Link). Desc#1: The application is vulnerable to an elevation of privileges vulnerability which can be used by a simple user that can change the executable file with a binary of choice. The vulnerability exist due to the improper permissions, with the 'F' flag (full) for the 'Everyone' and 'Users' group, for the 'OriginClientService.exe' binary file, and for all the files in the 'Origin' directory. The service is installed by default to start on system boot with LocalSystem privileges. Attackers can replace the binary with their rootkit, and on reboot they get SYSTEM privileges. Desc#2: Origin client service also suffers from an unquoted search path issue impacting the 'Origin Client Service' service for Windows deployed as part of the Origin Thin Setup bundle. This could potentially allow an authorized but non-privileged local user to execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges on the system. A successful attempt would require the local user to be able to insert their code in the system root path undetected by the OS or other security applications where it could potentially be executed during application startup or reboot. If successful, the local user’s code would execute with the elevated privileges of the application. 7. Obama will control internet, signs Emergency Internet Control Posted On 7/18/2012 12:36:00 AM By THN Security Analyst Barack Obama has signed an executive order that could hand control of the internet to the U.S. Government, in the event of a natural disaster or terrorist attack. "The federal government must have the ability to communicate at all times and under all circumstances to carry out its most critical and time sensitive missions," Obama said. President Obama adds that it is necessary for the government to be able to reach anyone in the country during situations it considers critical, writing, “Such communications must be possible under all circumstances to ensure national security, effectively manage emergencies and improve national resilience.” Later the president explains that such could be done by establishing a “joint industry-Government center that is capable of assisting in the initiation, coordination, restoration and reconstitution of NS/EP [national security and emergency preparedness] communications services or facilities under all conditions of emerging threats, crisis or emergency.” But Section 5.2 has raised alarm among those who fear the government will have too much control over the Web. The section explained how the secretary of homeland security - currently Janet Napolitano - will 'satisfy priority communications requirements through the use of commercial, Government, and privately owned communications resources, when appropriate.' White House officials have acted quickly to ease concern, insisting the order is just an update of an existing authority dating back to 1984 . The claim the government has been granted no extra powers. How threatening Obama's new executive powers are is subject to debate. Please pass your feedback in Comments.
