  1. I'll "exploit" the fact that this forum has a giant number of visitors, plus I'm too lazy to create an account on all the forums where the famous "DW1704 Limited Connection" problem is discussed. //Message for moderators: Sorry for the probably wrong section. To solve the problem of limited connection of the wireless adapter Dell Wireless 1704 (Broadcom BCM 43142), on Windows 8, I installed probably more than 10 drivers. The only one that seems to be stable is actually for Windows 7. Filename: DW1704_W7_A01_Setup-X0WV1_ZPE.exe Version: 6.20.55.49 Driver Date: 3/14/2012 Installation procedure: Manual - Exit the installation started by the self extractor - Go to the extracted folder (x0wv1) then into: WLAN\Drivers\Win7\WL - copy the address - Go into Device Manager - Right click on Dell Wireless 1704 - Uninstall & check "remove driver files" - Click then on "Scan for hardware changes" - "Network adapter" appears, with a warning icon - Right click on "Network adapter" -> "Update driver" / "Install driver" -> "Browse my computer.." -> Paste the address from clipboard -> Next - Done! Optional: I did changed these setting without checking the initial state. So I don't know if they're mandatory 1) Right click on Dell Wireless 1704 -> Properties -> Advanced - Antenna Diversity : Aux - Bandwidth Capability : 11b/g:20/40Mhz - Minimum Power Consumption: Disabled 2) -> Power Management - Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off.." // I hope that everyone, who has the problem I had, would see this page!
