The team is proud to announce the release of Linux Mint 15 “Olivia” KDE.

Linux Mint 15 Olivia

KDE is a vibrant, innovative, advanced, modern looking and full-featured desktop environment. This edition features all the improvements from the latest Linux Mint release on top of KDE 4.10.

Important info:

  • PAE required for 32-bit ISOs
  • EFI support

Make sure to read the “Release Notes” to be aware of important info or known issues related to this release.

System requirements:

  • x86 processor (Linux Mint 64-bit requires a 64-bit processor. Linux Mint 32-bit works on both 32-bit and 64-bit processors).
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8 GB of disk space
  • Graphics card capable of 1024×768 resolution
  • DVD drive or USB port

Upgrade instructions:

  • To upgrade from a previous version of Linux Mint follow these instructions.
  • To upgrade from the RC release, simply apply any level 1 and 2 updates (if any) available in the Update Manager.

Are un package manager pre-instalat diferit dar asemanator Ubunt-ului ;

Dupa cum ai vazut un screenshot-ul din thread, nu ai side-bar-ul care mie imi manca destul RAM pe laptop ( :( ) ;

Dupa parerea mea, e mult mai customizabil in setari; ( Ex: Domain blocker GUI si altele )

Vine pre-instalat cu suita LibreOffice pe partea Office; Pe partea media vine cu Banshee, Brasero si VLC( Cam tot ce iti trebuie ); De asemenea vine si cu GIMP;

Si da, poti sa faci dual-boot cu Ubuntu ( Desi e cam inutil , zic ), doar sa fii atent la install wizard.

Daca targetezi orice altceva decat supportul :) . Ubuntu e top la support.

1. Red Hat e cel mai de top la support.

2. Mai bine ai un Linux mai bun ?i mai stabil decât s? ajungi s? apelezi la support. Fiecare cum vede treaba.

Personal prefer pe post de desktop CentOS, Backtrack 3/4, Slax, Solaris. M? ur?sc s? spun asta, dar mi s-a demonstrat faptul c? cel mai bun linux pentru desktop se trage mereu din Gentoo, mai specific Sabayon.

Vreau în vara aceasta s? fac ni?te experimente cu un FreeBSD cu desktop, cic? s-ar mi?ca foarte bine.
