Two 14-year-old Canadians are suddenly the toast Winnipeg after easily hacking into a Bank of Montreal (BMO) ATM and telling the $500 billion company that it was long past time to upgrade security. Last Tuesday, Matthew Hewlett and Caleb Turon, both in ninth grade, found an ATM operators’ manual online that showed how to easily take control of the money machines all around their city. They decided to try their luck on a Wednesday lunch hour and headed to Winnipeg’s Grant Avenue to see if they could break into the first ATM they found. They didn’t expect it to be so easy. Following the instruction manual’s direction, Hewlett and Turon were asked for one password to gain access to the ATM’s operator mode. They took a long shot at a common six digit password—it wasn’t revealed but we’re going to assume it was ‘123456’—and suddenly found themselves in control of the machine. When they told the local Bank of Montreal branch manager that their ATM had been hacked, the teenagers weren’t taken seriously. "I said, 'No, no, no. We hacked your ATM. We got into the operator mode'," Hewlett told the Toronto Sun. "He said that wasn't really possible and we don't have any proof that we did it. "I asked them, 'Is it alright for us to get proof?' The teenagers went back and printed out documents “like how much money is currently in the machine, how many withdrawals have happened that day, how much it's made off surcharges. Then I found a way to change the surcharge amount, so I changed the surcharge amount to one cent." Hewlett then changed the ATM’s startup greeting to “Go away. This ATM has been hacked." That was enough to convince the Bank of Montreal branch manager who promptly contacted the company’s head of security. In return for their help, the bank's financial services coordinator wrote a letter to the teens’ school explaining why they didn’t come back from their lunch hour on time: The Bank of Montreal insisted on Friday that no customer information was ever at risk. Then, Oleg Pliss tells you that the only way to unlock your phone is to send him $50 through PayPal. Day ruined, amirite? Well, many people in Australia woke up to that and similar messages this morning after hackers used the Find My Device feature on iPhones, iPads and Macs to lock down the device and send the messages. Word started to spread as people went to Apple support forums and reported their problem. While some users have been able to gain back access to their devices without giving the hacker their lunch money for the week, others are waiting for Apple to find a solution. It isn't clear how the hackers were able to pull this off, but it's thought that they may be using leaked email addresses and passwords from somewhere, and are attacking the people who use the same email and password for their AppleID. While this hasn't affected anyone in the States yet, this is a good reminder to change your passwords if you use the same one for more than one website. Ca tu baaaa.....sunt aia online din lista....Cu verde, din dreapta, cu web/mobil. E lege ca nu poti sa vezi cine te-a vizitat pe facebook...

Serios...de acord cu tovarasii de mai sus, nu poti lua un laptop pentru gaming. E clar o prostie. Mai bine iti faci un Desktop cu 3000 de lei si e de gaming, si cu restul iti iei un laptop decent pentru portabilitate. Si ca sa fiu pe linia ta, nu iti recomand un Acer. Orienteaza-te spre firme mai bune in domeniu. Si fara vreo reclama chiar e bun un Asus, un Lenovo (seria Y), Alienware, Sony Vaio, Apple chiar...etc

Si tu iti pui piticii pe creier sa lucreze Iti faci fel de fel de ganduri negre si mii de inchipuiri, si poate saraca sta doar cu fetele. Recomandarea mea e ca daca ai ~20 ani, sa stai calm ca nu iti trebuie relatie serioasa, si mai ales la distanta, la varsta asta!

L-am gasit si eu pe laptopul cuiva, si la fel cauta sa "sune acasa". Are iconita de folder si se numeste New Folder, deci e foarte usor de trecut cu vederea. Serios acum, nu sunt rautacios deloc, dar nu crezi ca te-ai gasit tu mare "bancher" sa indrumi pe micii teribilisti ? Cine e cu capul pe umeri, va sti ce sa urmeze si ce nu. Cine se baga in cacat, clar e in ceata si nu ii ajunge.

Respectand ideea lui @SticKyWoX, am sa va dau urmatoarea idee: Vi se pare normal, ca pe un forum ca acesta, sa aibe mai multe vizualizari si postari, un thread despre razboi, iar cand vine un user si posteaza o stire informatica, abia sa aibe cateva vizite & reply-uri ? E pertinent din partea unui user sa faca un circ pe seama unei pareri fondate din auzite ? Cazul acestui topic... Daca exista o sectiune, offtopic, non-it, nu cred ca e cazul ca acolo sa fie stransa "multimea" si restul forumului sa fie compus din 30 de membri ! Nu se intreaba nimeni pe aici, de ce sectiunea de FunStuff a fost inchisa.... ?!

Esti stresat pretenas Stau in Romania ca si tine, dar din cauza varstei tale ai facut o legatura intre username-ul meu si tara de domiciliu, de tot cacatu. Esti cu morcovu in cur de ai facut salata in stomac, si vii aici sa te plangi. Daca eram in locul moderatorilor nu lasam topicuri total offtopic sa traiasca pe aici.

Scuza-ma ca te iau din prima cu "coae", dar asta ti se pare Cancan sau Libertatea ? E forum de securitate IT, iar noi ne impartasim ideile despre cum o sa fie razboiul. Ti se pare corect ? Locul acelor discutii clar nu e pe acest forum si mi se pare o greseala ca au fost lasate deschise acele topicuri atata amar de vreme.
