  15. Facebook is in violation of EU data laws owing to its overly complex privacy policies and persistent tracking of users, even if they have opted out of such systems. This was the key claim in a report by researchers at the University of Leuven and the Free University of Brussels on behalf of the Belgian Privacy Commission. “Our analysis indicates [that] Facebook is acting in violation of European law,” the report said. Specifically, the researchers are concerned that almost all data tracking and monitoring done by Facebook, such as for advertising purposes or gathering location data, is done without giving users adequate control over their privacy. “Its current default settings with regards to behavioural profiling and advertising (essentially 'opt-out') remain problematic,” the report said. “According to the Article 29 Working Party, consent cannot be inferred from the data subject’s inaction with regard to behavioural marketing. “As a result, Facebook’s opt-out system for advertising does not meet the requirements for legally valid consent. In addition, opt-outs for 'Sponsored Stories' or collection of location data are simply not provided.” The way Facebook combines data from its other services, specifically Instagram and WhatsApp, to build a more complete picture of a user was also cited as another way in which Facebook does not adhere to EU privacy and data laws. “Facebook only offers an opt-out system for its users in relation to profiling for third-party advertising purposes. The current practice does not meet the requirements for legally valid consent,” the report said. The report also criticised Facebook for “leveraging its dominant position” in the social networking market to effectively force users to accept its conditions. “The choices Facebook offers to its users are limited. For many data uses, the only choice for users is to simply 'take it or leave it'. If they do not accept, they can no longer use Facebook and may miss out on content exclusively shared on this platform,” the researchers said. Another interesting area raised in the report relates to the rights, or lack of, that Facebook provides to delete an account and have all data removed from the firm's databases. "Facebook fails to provide (sufficient) granularity in exercising data subject’s rights. For example, the right to erasure can only be exercised with regard to the user’s profile and only relates to self-posted content," it said. V3 contacted Facebook for its response to the report but had received no reply at the time of publication. The damning allegations come just a few months after Facebook updated its terms and conditions in an effort to make it easier for people to "take charge" of how their data is used on the site. Source
  16. Yesterday at its annual F8 Developer Conference in San Francisco, Facebook officially turned its Messenger app into a Platform. Facebook's Messenger Platform allows third-party app developers to integrate their apps with Facebook messenger app. However, other popular messaging apps are already offering similar features, like Chinese WeChat, but Facebook release is much bigger than any other platform. At F8 Developer Conference, Facebook released SDK v4.0 for iOS and Android along with Graph API v2.3 that enable app developers to add new messenger platform features to their custom apps quickly. Facebook users can install these compatible third-party apps from the messenger app, which offers users to send animated GIFs, images, videos, and more content within the Facebook Messenger app easily. BOON FOR BOTH FACEBOOK AND THIRD PARTY DEVELOPERS Facebook Messenger Platform will offer third party app developers to reach out Facebook’s 600 Millions of users. So, the move will be a boon for third-party app developers. On the other hand, the move will help Facebook to integrate its messaging service directly into the vast ecosystem of Android and iOS apps. BUSINESSES ON MESSENGER The Social Networking giant also announced "Businesses on Messenger," feature that will soon let users connect directly with companies and make direct conversation, replacing the need for retailer chat windows in the process. When customers place an order for goods or services, they will be prompted to head to Facebook Messenger for communications including modifying orders, tracking orders, returning merchandise and getting answers to questions. Third party app developers who are interested in learning more and integrating their apps with the new Facebook Messenger Platform can grab the SDK on Facebook’s website. LAUNCH PARTNERS The new Messenger Platform is open to all developers, but Facebook launched 40 different apps initially with its partners, including ESPN, Giphy, Imgur, The Weather Channel and Bitmoji. The complete list of Messenger Platform launch partners are as follow: Action Movie FX Bitmoji Cleo Video Texting Clips ClipDis Ditty Dubsmash Effectify EmotionAR Emu ESPN FlipLip Voice Changer Fotor GIF Keyboard GIFJam Giphy Hook’d Imgur Imoji JibJab Kanvas Keek Legend Magisto Meme Generator Noah Camera Pic Stitch PicCollage GIF Cam PingTank Pyro! Score! on Friends Selfied Shout Sound Clips StayFilm Stickered Strobe Tackl Talking Tom Tempo The Weather Channel to.be Camera UltraText Wordeo Facebook users could also install these apps using a prompt message if they receive any message generated from updated apps. 17. The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has begun hearing evidence in a case relating to Facebook, PRISM and the ownership of online data that could have far-reaching consequences for data protection and EU-US relations. The case was passed to the ECJ by the Irish courts last summer after Austrian privacy campaigner Max Schrems brought a claim against Facebook saying that it had passed information on users to the US National Security Agency (NSA). The allegations came to light as part of the fallout from the PRISM campaign that was leaked by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. Schrems argues that Facebook passing on data from European citizens contravenes ‘safe harbour’ principles that should keep such data in the EU. “Large internet companies (in the current case Facebook) have, pursuant to US law, allowed the US government to access European user data on a mass scale for law enforcement, espionage and anti-terror purposes,” he wrote on the Europe-vs-Facebook page set up to cover the trial. “Aiding these forms of US ‘mass surveillance’ may, however, violate EU privacy laws and fundamental rights.” Specifically the problem is that the safe harbour safeguards require US companies to 'self-certify' that data will be protected when taken outside the US. This system has always been criticised, and the PRISM revelations have only proved these fears correct in the eyes of campaigners like Schrems. "Under EU law such a 'data export' to a third country is only legal if the exporting company (in this case Facebook Ireland Ltd) can ensure an 'adequate protection' for such data in the US," Schrems said in his European Court of Justice hears NSA/PRISM case document (PDF). "In the current case, the plaintiff claims that the NSA’s PRISM programme and other forms of US surveillance are the exact antithesis of 'adequate protection'." The case was referred to the ECJ after a judge in Ireland said there was a requirement for the EU to rule on whether Facebook’s actions were in breach of the law. "The monitoring of global communications - subject, of course, to key safeguards - is accordingly regarded essential if the US is to discharge the mandate which it has assumed," said Judge Desmond Hogan last year. "But there may also be suspicion in some quarters that this type of surveillance has had collateral objects and effects, including the preservation and reinforcing of American global political and economic power." Facebook is the company involved in this case, but the outcome will have far-reaching consequences for the relationship between US technology companies with a major presence in Europe, such as Microsoft and Google. If the ECJ sides with Schrems it could see the entire safe harbour agreement thrown out and new rules brought in to give European citizens more privacy and protection from US authorities. This will, in turn, cause tension between the US security agencies and US technology firms, as data from these companies is key to surveillance operations. The US is already attempting to force Microsoft to hand over data stored on servers overseas, claiming that as a US company it is still subject to US laws, even when operating outside the country. If this challenge proves successful there will be even less protection for EU citizens to keep their data secure, although it could also open the market for European cloud providers to offer services without US interference. 19. If you have enabled automatic Facebook Photo Sync feature on your iPhone, iPad or Android devices, then Beware! Hackers can steal your personal photographs without your knowledge. In 2012, the social network giant introduced Facebook Photo Sync feature for iPhone, iPad and Android devices which, if opt-in, allows Facebook to automatically sync all your photos saved on your mobile device with your Facebook account. The photos that you have synced from your phone are automatically uploaded in the background to a private Facebook album, which is not visible to any of your Facebook friends or other Facebook users. However, you may can choose then to share photos from the album on your Facebook timeline or send them as a message to a friend. A bug bounty hunter, Laxman Muthiyah, discovered a critical flaw in the Facebook Photo Sync feature and Facebook API that could allow any third-party app to access your personal photos from the hidden Facebook Photo Sync album. It's something that reminds me of "The Fappenings" and "The Snappening" -- in which nude and personal photographs of top celebrities were leaked due to a security flaw in Apple's iCloud file storage service and unofficial Snapchat messaging service app, respectively. In a blog post published today, Laxman explained that the vulnerability resides in the privilege mechanism that which applications are allowed to access sync photos using vaultimages API. Technically, Synced private photo album should be accessible by only Facebook's official app, but the vulnerability allows any 3rd party apps to get permission to read your personal synced photos. Laxman previously disclosed a vulnerability in Facebook Graph API mechanism that allowed him to delete any photo album on Facebook owned by any user, any page or any group. HOW TO DISABLE AUTO-SYNC Though, Facebook has patched the vulnerability reported by Laxman and rewarded him with $10,000 under it’s bug bounty program, Facebook users are advised to turn off Facebook Photo Sync feature just to be on the safer side. In order to do so, just go to Facebook mobile app menu, scroll down and select Account > App Settings > Sync Photos, then Choose 'Don't sync my photos.' Source
  20. Facebook today reported a slight drop in government requests for user data, bucking a trend that peaked during the first half of 2014 with the highest numbers the company had seen. Its latest transparency report covers the second half of last year, and shows slight dips in requests for user data, the number of accounts referenced and the percentage of requests where Facebook turned over some data. The numbers are still high, however, and demonstrate a continued interest on the part of the government to use data from web-based services in criminal and national security cases. Despite dips in requests in the United States—and Germany—Facebook said overall requests for user account data was up slightly from its last report, as was the number of government requests for data and content restrictions. In the U.S., for example, Facebook received 14,274 requests for user data affected 21,731 accounts; Facebook said it complied with 79 percent of those requests, turning over some content or user data. Content restriction requests, meanwhile, were almost exclusively dominated by India and Ukraine. By comparison, Facebook through the first six months of 2014, fielded 15,433 requests for user data affecting 23,667 accounts; in 80 percent of those occasions, Facebook turned over some data. “We publish this information because we want people to know the extent and nature of the requests we receive from governments and the policies we have in place to process them,” said Monika Bickert, head of Facebook global policy management, and Chris Sonderby, Deputy General Counsel. “Moving forward, we will continue to scrutinize each government request and push back when we find deficiencies. We will also continue to push governments around the world to reform their surveillance practices in a way that maintains the safety and security of their people while ensuring their rights and freedoms are protected.” Facebook also provided some insight into its Community Standards, which define what is acceptable content that is allowed to be posted on the social network. Bickert and Sonderby said there are occasions, for example, when Facebook is asked to remove or restrict access to content because it violates local law, even though it may be within the bounds of its standards. Those numbers are also included in today’s report, along with more detail and examples of what constitutes Facebook’s Community Standards. “We challenge requests that appear to be unreasonable or overbroad,” Bickert and Sonderby said. “And if a country requests that we remove content because it is illegal in that country, we will not necessarily remove it from Facebook entirely, but may restrict access to it in the country where it is illegal.” Source
  21. "Signup or Login with Facebook" ?? You might think twice before doing that next time. A security researcher has discovered a critical flaw that allows hackers take over Facebook accounts on websites that leverage 'Login with Facebook' feature. The vulnerability doesn't grant hackers access to your actual Facebook password, but it does allow them to access your accounts using Facebook application developed by third-party websites such as Bit.ly, Mashable, Vimeo, About.me, Stumbleupon, Angel.co and possibly many more. FLAW EXPLOITS THREE CSRFs PROTECTION Egor Homakov, a researcher with pentesting company Sakurity, made the social network giant aware of the bug a year ago, but the company refused to fix the vulnerability because doing so would have ruined compatibility of Facebook with a vast number of websites over the Internet. The critical flaw abuses the lack of CSRF (Cross-Site Request Forgery) protection for three different processes — Facebook log in Facebook log out Third-party account connection The first two issues "can be fixed by Facebook," Homakov said, but have not done yet. However, the third one needs to be fixed by the website owners those who have integrate "Login with Facebook" feature into their websites. TOOL TO HACK FACEBOOK ACCOUNTS Therefore, blaming Facebook for dismal security in 'Login with Facebook' feature, the researcher publicly released a tool, dubbed RECONNECT, that exploits the bug and lets hackers to generate URLs that can be used to hijack accounts on third-party websites that use 'Login with Facebook' button. "Go blackhats, don’t be shy!" Homakov wrote on his Twitter, allegedly encouraging hackers and cyber criminals to take benefit from his ready to use tool. Homakov also published a blog post which gives hackers a step-by-step process for setting up rogue Facebook accounts that victims are redirected to when they tricked into clicking on malicious URLs provided by the attackers. RECONNECT Facebook hacking tool can generate malicious URLs to hijack Facebook accounts on third-party website including Booking.com, Bit.ly, About.me, Stumbleupon, Angel.co, Mashable and Vimeo. However, any website that supports 'Login with Facebook' can be hacked by manually inserting its link into the tool that generates Facebook login requests on behalf of its users. HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF ? One could realize the dangerous consequences of RECONNECT Facebook hacking tool by calculating how many number of websites over Internet use that blue color ' f ' button of Facebook login. And once a hacker makes a way to get into you account, they could access your private information and use them to hack into your other online accounts. So, in order to prevent your accounts from malicious hackers, Do Not click on any suspicious URLs provided to you via online messages, emails or social media accounts. And always be careful while surfing over the Internet. FACEBOOK RESPONDS TO THE ISSUE Facebook says it has been aware of the issue for some time now and that third-party sites can protect their users by utilizing Facebook's best practices when using the Facebook sign-in feature. The company also added that they have also made various changes in order to help prevent login CSRF and are evaluating others while "aiming to preserve necessary functionality for a large number of sites that rely upon Facebook Login." 22. Am urmatorul cod : <?php session_start(); require 'src/facebook.php'; require 'functions.php'; date_default_timezone_set("Europe/Bucharest"); $facebook = new Facebook(array( 'appId' => '111', 'secret' => '222', 'cookie' => true, )); $user = $facebook->getUser(); $mail_facebook = trim($femail); if ($user) { try { $user_profile = $facebook->api('/me'); $fbid = $user_profile['id']; $fbfullname = $user_profile['name']; $femail = $user_profile['email']; checkuser($fuid,$funame,$fbfullname,$femail,$fbid); } catch (FacebookApiException $e) { error_log($e); $user = null; } } if ($user) { $logoutUrl = $facebook->getLogoutUrl(array('next' => 'https://website.ro/logout.php', )); } else { $loginUrl = $facebook->getLoginUrl(array('scope'=> 'email', )); } ?> Iar pentru a apela link-ul pentru logarea pe site prin facebook folosesc <?php echo $loginUrl; ?> Insa nu pot sa-mi explic de ce nu se intampla absolut nimic cand dau click pe acel link de pe o pagina rescrisa cu RewriteRule care are si o variabila de tip GET in url. Exemple : RewriteRule test/$ /test.php RewriteRule ^teste-([^/]*)$ /teste.php?lot=$1 [L] test.php ->merge test/ -> merge teste.php?lot=exam ->merge teste-examen -> NU MERGE
  23. Do you own a Facebook Business page? If yes, then you will notice a drop in the number of "likes" on your Facebook Page by next week, which could be quite disappointing but, Facebook believes, will help business to know their actual followers. FACEBOOK'S OFFICIAL MASS AUTO-UNLIKE The social network giant is giving its Pages a little spring cleaning, purging them of memorialized and voluntarily deactivated inactive Facebook accounts in an attempt to make its users data more meaningful for businesses and brands. Facebook purge will begin from March 12, Facebook said, and should continue over the next few weeks. FACEBOOK TO DETECT FAKE FOLLOWERS Facebook is also taking steps to improve how it detects fake profiles. We all know that a number of Businesses and Brands buy fake Facebook Likes and Twitter followers in order to show their brand popularity. Social Media giants, Facebook, Twitter and Google, have emerged as major players in recent general elections in India, where political parties spend millions of dollar to buy number of Followers and advertize their promo campaigns to impact Election results. BENEFITS OF REMOVING INACTIVE USERS FROM LIKES According to Facebook, there are two main reasons to remove inactive Facebook accounts from Page audience: Accurate Likes Keeping Actual followers on the Top With more accurate "like" counts, businesses and brands could better understand how much followers are actually interested in their contents and products. Facebook wants to give businesses “up-to-date insights” on their pages’ active followers. The move will give businesses more precise information about those Facebook users who are actively following their Facebook Page and make better use of Facebook’s Custom Audiences tool, which lets businesses create followers — aka lookalike audiences — by finding people on Facebook who are similar to those who already follow the company’s page. The company also wants to make business results consistent with individual users’ experiences. Facebook already filters out "likes and comments generated by deactivated or memorialized accounts from individual Page posts." While, the decrease in number of followers may disappoint you at the very first time, but at the same time it will help you gain a more accurate way to track your customers and grow your followers with authentic number of likes, which will be more beneficial to your business.
